EMPOWER VII Projects 2024

Recognizing the importance of patient partnership in mobilizing knowledge, and that integrated knowledge translation requires adequate planning, support, and funding, the Ontario SPOR SUPPORT Unit (OSSU) launched the Engaging Multi-stakeholders for Patient Oriented-research Wider Effects and Reach (EMPOWER) funding in 2017.

The opportunity aims to provide additional end-of-grant funding to recently completed patient-oriented research (POR) projects to enhance and broaden the uptake and impact of research evidence. In particular, the goal is to promote and enable patient partnered research teams to build relationships with patient partners and push evidence to those who can use it to inform their healthcare policy and decision making. Projects focus on equity, mobilizing knowledge with diverse populations, and advancing the goals of the quadruple aim.

For 2024, there are 4 funded teams, whom we congratulate and look forward to the results of their projects.
