AMS Healthcare works to advance a Canadian healthcare system through innovation and technology while remaining rooted in compassion and our medical history. They convene networks, develop leaders, and fund crucial activities in medical history, healthcare research, education, and clinical practice. Their work helps improve care for all Canadians. In support of its mandates, AMS Healthcare is pleased to announce funding opportunities in the areas of compassionate care and the history of medicine and healthcare.

AMS Healthcare sponsors several funding programs to develop leadership in compassionate care and artificial intelligence/digital technology. The following funding programs have been launched:

AMS Healthcare sponsors several funding programs in the history of medicine and/or healthcare – a discipline broadly defined as the study, analysis, and interpretation of past practices, philosophies, and/or epistemologies related to human health, healthcare, and/or disease or the education of health professionals. The following funding programs have been launched:

Leadership in Compassion and Artificial Intelligence Fellowship

Postdoctoral Fellowship

AMS Healthcare is offering one-year fellowships of up to $75,000 to early and mid-career academic researchers and regulated health care professionals to study and develop leadership and expertise/competence in the impact of digital technology and artificial intelligence on compassionate health care.

The Postdoctoral Fellowship program supports full-time post-doctoral studies of emerging scholars as they begin or complete projects focused on the history of medicine and/or healthcare. Each award provides a one-year stipend of up to $45,000 and a $2,500 research and travel allowance.

Compassion and Artificial Intelligence Small Grant Program

Project Grant

AMS Healthcare is offering grants of up to $30,000 to support projects that will generate new knowledge or translate existing knowledge on the impact of digital technology and artificial intelligence on compassionate health care.

AMS Healthcare is offering grants of up to $20,000 to support research into the history of medicine and allied disciplines such as science and technology studies, sociology, anthropology, and classics. Projects must strive to advance the history of health, healthcare and disease, or the education of health professionals.

Doctoral Research Award

This program provides support to doctoral students who are working full-time to complete their dissertation on a topic related to the history of medicine and/or healthcare in the humanities or social sciences. One-year stipends of up to $25,000 are available through this program.
