Patient Partnership and COVID-19 Research – An OSSU Patient Partners Working Group Webinar

On July 9th, 2020, OSSU’s Patient Partners Working Group held their summer 2020 webinar, this time to discuss the issue of patient partnership and COVID-19 research. This webinar brought together two experienced patient partners in research (Alies Maybee, Patient Advisors Network; Maureen Smith, Cochrane Collaboration, OSSU) and a researcher committed to meaningful engagement in research (Rebecca Gannan, McMaster Aging, Community and Health Research Unit).

In this lively discussion, with nearly 100 attendees from around the world, the discussants covered the initial challenges posed to patient partnership in research, the ongoing challenges and opportunities created by the Pandemic, and what lessons we should learn and take away for the future of patient partnered research in this new reality.

The full recording of the webinar is available on OSSU’s YouTube channel (click here), a short PowerPoint used in the discussion with the poll findings from the webinar embedded is available below, and the full transcript of the webinar will be made available here shortly.
