Six new youth mental health drop-in centres

Ontario is expanding support for youth mental health and addiction services with six new youth wellness hubs based on an OSSU-funded research project. The wellness hubs, based on the YouthCan IMPACT project in Toronto, will serve up to 12,000 youth aged 12 to 25 years in Eastern Champlain (Cornwall area), Haliburton, Kenora, Malton, North Simcoe and Niagara Region. Dr. Joanna Henderson, Executive Director of Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario and OSSU co-Investigator, led the team selecting these new sites and is examining the efficacy, economics and superiority of this Integrated Collaborative Care Team (ICCT) Model as compared with normal hospital-based care for youth with mental health and addiction challenges.
