The Ontario SPOR SUPPORT Unit (OSSU) is a network of 15 leading health Research Centres, supported by a Coordinating Centre  located in Toronto, that engages researchers, patients and other partners in patient-oriented research to improve the health of Ontarians and the health care system.

Jointly funded by the Government of Ontario and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, OSSU provides supports such as expertise, infrastructure, training and resources to people conducting patient-oriented research to help implement Canada’s Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research in Ontario. OSSU also funds projects that demonstrate the value of patient-oriented research and how it can leverage OSSU supports to achieve greater impacts. These awards support translational patient-oriented research that are Innovative, Measurable, Patient-oriented, Appropriate, Collaborative and Transformative – IMPACT Awards.

OSSU helps researcher teams conduct patient-oriented research through a network of 15 leading Research Centres located in Ontario that offer a wide range of expertise.

OSSU…

  • promotes knowledge transfer and exchange of the latest research evidence
  • aims to improve health policy and clinical practices in Ontario.

We are one of 11 SUPPORT Units across the country that form part of the Strategy for Patient Oriented Research.
